Wreck Me

All Piper Walker wants is to feel normal again, and for the pain of losing the one person she truly loved to go away. But no matter what she does she feels like she keeps hitting a wall of hurt.

Chase Whitman has finally moved back to town after running away from his troubled home life. He’s trying to fill the emptiness in his heart with all the wrong women, making sure he doesn’t fall in love with any of them.

Now in her sophomore year of college, Piper is trying all she can to right all the wrongs she has done the past year. Which includes almost getting thrown out of school, distaining herself from her best friend, and moving way too quickly with her boyfriend.

After a night of heavy drinking Piper wakes up to find Chase in bed with her. She panics and runs off hoping never to see him again. Little does she know Chase will invade her life in every way possible and become the person she needs the most.

Will they be able to fill the void in each other? Or will their past wreck everything?

I love the cover. Reminds me of The Notebook. Good luck, Maria.

Laziness and Lots of Good TV = No Writing

I haven’t worked on any of my WIPs in weeks.

This is probably the worst I’ve been at working on a short story or novel since I went and took it seriously back in late 2011. Before that I wrote when the occasion struck me, but after self-publishing a short story collection, Night Sighs, back in November 2011, I copped myself on. From then I wrote weekly and published fairly frequently, or at least I tried to.

Now, when I finish work every evening, I open up a word doc and shrug my shoulders, and think, “I’ll watch an episode of Supernatural or The Walking Dead instead”.

Two lovely long days stretch ahead of me when I finish the day job on a Friday evening, and I tell myself I’ll easily get a few thousand words done. But no, not lately. Cinema, weddings, meeting up with friends, spending time with family and my new nephew…. all much more appealing these days than writing.

Is it just that I’m lazy? Or is it something more? I have a novel I wrote years ago that’s badly in need of a polish, the beautiful cover artwork for it demanding to be shown to the world, but I can’t muster the concern to plow on and finish it. I have the first draft of the sequel to Night Sighs, Night Whispers, ready to be edited, yet I can’t summon the willpower to even look at the first page. Whatever is going on, I’m hoping it will pass soon. Maybe by this time next month, I’ll be soldiering on. And until then, I’m happy to keep up my blog, visit all of yours, and watch some more good TV.

Hope all you writers out there are faring better?
