The Truth Is Out There
I can still remember seeing the trailer for this when I was 10 years old and running through the house to tell my Dad who also loves sci-fi and paranormal tv/books. While the quality of stories dipped after a few years, Fox Mulder & Dana Scully remain my two favourite, fictional FBI agents to this day.
Bip Bip!
Following the trend of kick-ass females, Max’s sharp tongue got her into some trouble in post-Pulse Seattle. All the cool kids were from Manticore, including Zach, Alec & Joshua. It only got 2 seasons but Dark Angel rocked and put Jessica Alba firmly on the map.
We Were On A Break
What can I say? 10 years of laughs.
I AM What I AM
Roswell, NewMexico, home to the Crashdown Cafe, too many alien themed shops and some great characters: Michael, Maria, Liz, Max, Isabel, Alex, Kyle, Sheriff Valenti & even Tess. There was true love (Liz & Max), some great bickering (Michael & Maria), tragedy (Alex’s untimely departure), icy wit (Isabel), betrayal (Tess) and some wonderful wisdom (Buddha Boy Kyle)
In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer.
This show stood out from every other tv programme on air at the time. A highschool girl with superpowers who was smart and self-sufficient, oh and called Buffy? No way this was ever going to work…
Joss Whedon brought us lots of sarcasm, tongue-in-cheek tv, Buffy, vampires, spooky graveyards, Giles, school principals who got eaten, Willow, vampires with souls, Xander, witches, demons, Angel, vampires without souls, hyenas, Spike, werewolves, Cordelia, Sunnydale, the hellmouth, Dawn, ex-vengeance demons, Anya, crazy vampires, Drusilla, the Bronze, Faith & much much more.
Agree with top 3…….I think I’d have to have The Crystal Maze (classic show!) and ER in there too
