Naughty By Mistletoe at Close Encounters with the Night Kind

I was invited to do a guest spot on the fantastic blog, Close Encounters with the Night Kind and share a new short story for the holiday season.  Blood and Mulled Wine continues the adventures of Alex & Tristan from Night Sighs.

Blood and Mulled Wine

“You better watch out.  You better not cry.  You better not pout, I’m telling ya why.”  Tristan winked at Alex and she raised her glass of mulled wine in response.  Kayleigh, Teddy’s girlfriend who was seated comfortably beside her leaned over and clinked it.    “SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN” bellowed the crowd in Larry’s back garden.

Garden was a bit of an understatement.  Larry was hosting this shindig in his five acre landscape at the back of his country estate, which resembled Hyde Park in both its stature and beauty.  He even had a couple of paddle boats for the lake.  He and his wife Sherry were one of the most well known vampire couples in England and Tristan was like a godson to him.

On this Christmas Eve, Larry and fifty of his closest friends were enjoying a rare event; The Dead Beats were performing for an avid audience, mostly vampires but with a few humans dotted around.

Kayleigh was one of these humans, yet to decide if she wanted to cross over to the dark side.  Alex watched her human friend happily staring at her boyfriend Teddy up on stage and remembered when she had been in the same position.  She thought Kayleigh was adorable and perfect for Teddy but just couldn’t see the cute little blonde as a vampire.  Alex shrugged and turned her attention back to her man.
