I went to see Rock of Ages with some girlfriends last year. The cinema was nearly empty with just one other group of girls in attendance. We sang, danced in our seats and laughed our asses off the whole way through. I watched it again recently and it made me smile just as much as the first time. Great songs, a fun cast, silly but entertaining, I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys musicals. However, I will never, ever be able to listen to one of my favourite songs – “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner – in the same way. π
Thank you Tom Cruise and Malin Akerman for giving me a great laugh. But now I will always think about this scene from Rock of Ages when I hear this song. π

80s music rocks! Did anyone go see Rock of Ages? If you didn’t, think about picking it up on DVD.
Have a great weekend. We’re finally experiencing sunshine in Ireland, our first glimpse of summer this year.

I watched it recently on Sky and I laughed my ass off, too, especially during the scene you posted here!! LOL
Such a feel good film. I’ve watched it 3 times on the Movie channel in the past month. π
DVD? BluRay all the way, baby! I need to see my sweet Tommy’s face in HD.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this movie. Not only was I a child of the 80’s, but the club they made the Bourbon off of was one of my haunts (it’s called the Whiskey a Go-Go, or just the Whiskey). It’s still on Sunset, but the Tower Records is now a flower stall or something.
Not only did I love the movie for the cool flashback to my life, but I thought Tom Cruise did an outstanding job of playing the self-absorbed rock star. The song that’s ruined for me, is ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ by Def Leopard. I absolutely adored how Tom sang it. On the special features disc, it shows Def Leopard watching Tom practice the song and they were impressed with how well he sang. I wish I’d been on set that day! Or any day, really.
I think I’ll watch the movie again today. It’s that kind of day when you need a little bit of silly to balance out all the serious work stuff, right? Oh, and Russell Brand? Loved him! Yeah, I need to see it again.
I’m so behind when it comes to technology. No BluRay player I’m afraid just yet. That is crazy you went to Whiskey. Do you have some pics from that time? Must be awesome to see those old haunts in a movie.
Tom was great in Rock of Ages. I’ll have to check out the special features when I pick up the DVD. Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin – “I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore” – Lol.
Lol. I haven’t seen that one. Yeah, I’m not sure I can think of that song in the same way ever again π
Yeah, it’s kind of ruined now. π Oh, well…
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I love that song. π
Great song, fun film. Watch it when you need a pick-me-up day.
I remember:) Love that song! Movie is new to me, thanks for sharing!
If you get around to watching it, let me know, Michelle.
I guess we were both in musical moods today! LOL. I have only seen bits and pieces of the movie, but this scene is one that I have seen…cracked me up! I do intend to eventually go back and watch the whole thing.
I’ve been off the internet for the weekend. Catching up now with some blog hopping. π Watch it when you need a laugh or a break from reality.
Well I haven’t seen the film yet but near fell off my ball laughing at your clip, also I shall not be able to listen to that song without laughing a film to be watched for shore
Ha ha, Debs. Glad it made ya smile.
Oh God!! I have to see this! Emma, you made my day!
Yay. I thought it would be something fun on a Friday.
Omg!!! That was hilarious! I haven’t seen the movie, but I’m going to have to now. I know my hubby will love this too.
Let me know what you think and if you end up singing/shouting along!
I love musicals and I love 80’s music, so I had to rent this when it came out, and I loved it, LOVED IT! Even my son liked it (I made him watch it, I’m an evil dad).
It’s fun for the whole family – well, for the most part!
Nah, I’d say you’re a cool dad.
Sounds like you had so much fun! I haven’t seen the movie, but now I kinda wanna. π
Check it out when you have a free night. Invite some friends over, pour out the wine and sing along. π
Oh yah, this film won me over too. I had very low expectations of it, but I think it’s going to be a guilty pleasure to stay with me. I even hosted an 80’s party film viewing and blogged about it. LOL

Ha ha. Skitting laughing at your pic. Cool glasses!
Just like you said on your blog, I dare anyone to watch and not sing along, especially if they’re a fan of 80’s music.
That video was one of the most ironic and hilarious things I’ve ever seen, lol. Thanks for sharing, Emma! I’m not sure what kind of opinion to have on it, but watching Tom Cruise sing was worth it. And some of the facial expressions were priceless. Especially after she licks his ear. There’s that awkward pause that’s like, “Okay, then…” haha. Definitely good music.
Tom Cruise was great in it. They both gave it their all in that scene, not caring if they were making fools of themselves. Hilarious.
