It’s Friday, and I’m finally on my summer holidays from work. Woohoo!! I’ll keep this post short.
I went to see World War Z on Wednesday night and enjoyed it immensely. Action-packed from the get-go, it’s a thrilling, entertaining, popcorn flick – a near perfect summer blockbuster. I’ve seen some reviewers criticise it. It’s not intelligent enough, it’s not philosophical enough, character driven enough, blah blah blah. What did they expect from a summer action thriller?
I was entertained throughout. I even jumped a few times, and I wasn’t even at the 3D version. The foghorn sound creeped me out – made me think of the Tripods from War of the Worlds. Some zombie traditionalists may not be impressed by the fast moving folks in World War Z, but they scared me. Go see this over the weekend for simple escapism – and Brad Pitt.
I do have to wonder what was the point of having Matthew Fox, the actor who played Jack from Lost, in the film for a few seconds. It really was a ‘blink and you’d miss it’ appearance. I recognised his voice but the camera barely showed his face. Hmm.
TGIF! Have a good one.
