Hallelujah, it’s done. I started writing this novella last Christmas. It should have been ready long ago, but stuff happens in life, like procrastination. Anyway…

Book Title: Beneath Manhattan Skies
Genre: New Adult, Paranormal Romance (Vampires)
Find it on Goodreads
November in New York is cold but full of possibility for college freshman Erin Harris. When her twin brother, Nick, shows up on her doorstep for a surprise visit, Erin is delighted. Unfortunately, Nick’s arrival coincides with the discovery of a body outside her apartment building, a body drained of blood. Right away, Nick assumes vampires are involved. He’s not exactly their biggest fan since Erin dated one in high school.
Juggling nosy roommates, a first date with a gorgeous guy from college and a brother on a Van Helsing kick is enough to keep any nineteen year old girl busy – And then Erin’s old flame walks back into her life.
Is Erin destined to be caught up in supernatural shenanigans, or will she choose a different path?

I wrote Under the Desert Moon as a standalone novel all the way back in the summer of 2007. It went through a few drafts since then, and when it was published last year, I thought that was that. Erin’s story had been told. But I started wondering how Erin would get on after high school graduation. Would her twin brother, Nick, make it out of the sleepy town of Copperfield alright? Would Erin find another guy, or would she find herself thinking of the vampire James every now and again? Well, I stopped wondering and started writing.
Beneath Manhattan Skies features a few of the characters from Under the Desert Moon, but it can be read as a standalone. It’s set in November in New York during Erin’s first year of art college.
Though originally meant to be a short and snappy 25,000 word novella to be published in ebook format only, my characters had different ideas. It now stands at 45,000 words and is almost ready to make its way in the world. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a release date in ebook format in mid November. I’ve also decided to publish it on CreateSpace, mostly so I get to hold a physical copy in my hands and admire the pretty cover!

Xpresso Book Tours will be hosting a Cover Reveal on Friday October 25th, and I’ll post the cover on my blog the same day. Until then, it’s time to knuckle down and do some marketing work. The joys of self publishing. If anyone would like to sign up for the reveal, you can do so HERE.

Congrats, hon!!! I’ll be checking it out and spreading the word 🙂
Thanks a mill.
Yay! I’m so excited it’s done and ready for the world. I’m excited to see the cover on October 25th. Congratulations!
Thanks, Tameri. Your beta reading skills helped me out a lot.
YAY!! I’ll have to get my hands on this one, too, and follow Erin’s journey. 🙂 Congrats, Emma. Whoop! So glad you are continuing with the story. Please, if you need help spreading the word (even though I’m in my cave at the moment), I will do it with pleasure. You have my e-mail, so shoot everything through, and I’ll paint the town red!
Aw, thanks Sandra. I will definitely take you up on that. Stay in your cave as long as you can. I really should retreat into mine more often than I do.
Congrats, Emma! I signed up!
Cheers, Christie. Appreciate that.
Yay! Another book to read! 🙂 Congrats, Emma, and good luck on the release. I’ll be sure to pimp it closer to the release date since readers’ attention spans can be short sometimes. I know mine is, anyway. LOL I can’t wait to read it!
Thanks, Lauralynn. Lol. Yes, that’s true with me too.
Congratulations Emma! I’ve signed up as a host for the reveal, and I wish you the best on your release:O)
Thank you, and cheers for the reblog too.
Most welcome! Congrats again!
Reblogged this on IndieWritersReview and commented:
Check it out guys! A new one from Author Emma Meade!
Oooh, exciting! I’ll be looking forward to the release and reading this. Congrats!
I’d love to do a cover reveal but they don’t email documents until the day before the reveal and that makes it too tight a schedule for me 😦
I’d be happy to host you on my blog for a promo!
Thanks a lot, Mae. When I get myself organised over the coming weekend, I might email you something for a little promo. Cheers again.
Congrats, Emma! Can’t wait to read it!
Thank you, Trish. Hope you’re having fun with your own writing. Okay “fun” is probably not the right word. 😉
Yay, I’m so excited for you! This is an awesome story, and I know it’ll do well. Best wishes!
Thanks Jen for all your help with this one!
Wow Emma, congratulations! I’m in awe of how impressively consistent you are with publishing new things, it seems you are on a great role, and long may it continue. 🙂
Cheers, Becky. A lot of what I release are shorter pieces of fiction. The 100,000 novel still eludes me. 🙂
It’s still a fantastic achievement no matter the size! Most of us don’t have the dedication. You rock.
Congratulations Emma. It sounds really good.
Thank you.
Congratulations Emma! I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting for this a while now. Ever since Erin went off to college! LOL
Does James follow her? Who’s the vamp killing people outside her apartment and I wonder what the guy she’s going on a date with is like!!
Okay, I’m curious:)
Ha ha, I’m glad someone was waiting. 🙂 You’ll just have to read and find out. And the guy from the date is lovely, well I love him anyway.
Thanks for the enthusiasm, Laura. 😉
Got an invite and signed up for your reveal! Can’t wait to see your cover art!
Congrats!!!! I guess this means I better buckle down and my book done. Can’t wait to see the cover.
Cheers. Yep, buckle down and release your novel. Few Irish coffees might help get the job done.
Yay! I’m so excited for you. Doesn’t it feel great to finally have that under your belt? Happy dancing for you. Can’t wait to see the cover. 😀
Thanks, Debra. It does. I wanted to free myself up for writing something new over the Christmas holidays.
Oh, wow! Well done, Emma! How time flies! I’m almost sorted in my new home, so I think it’s time to get back to blogging and serious writing. You gave me the kick I needed! And I’d love to host you. 🙂
Thanks, Ella. Maybe the views from your new home will inspire you!
I’ll take you up on the hosting, will pop you an email over the weekend. Thanks!
