I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it…
The final book in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, City of Heavenly Fire, is out. I’m picking it up tomorrow morning in town and will happily spend the rest of my weekend sitting in the back garden (weather permitting) reading it. I fell head over heels in love with this series and all its characters last year.
I do, however, have a bad feeling that someone is going to die in this one. Gulp. Will the gang finally send Sebastian to hell like he deserves? Will Simon’s mom make peace with her son being a vampire? Will Jace & Clary finally sleep together???
I shall soon find out.
Happy Reading, everyone. What’s on your book list this weekend?

Feeling envious here. You’re going to soak it all up before I do. I have 1-2 more reads lined up first, although I’m weakening. Enjoy your time in the garden with Jace, Clary and the gang. I can’t wait to see how it all ends (hopefully better than the Infernal Devices series). I haven’t ordered my copy yet, but I think I’m going to hop over to Amazon and do that now. Just so I can look at the gorgeous cover on my Kindle in the meantime.
I’m loving it so far, but trying to pace myself so I can treasure the last story. I haven’t read the final book in the Infernal Devices. I didn’t enjoy those books half as much as The Mortal Instruments. Enjoy looking at the gorgeous cover on your Kindle, Mae. ๐
Drat! Hope I didn’t ruin anything for you. I was sure you would have finished the Infernal Devices by now. It doesn’t end bad, just not as I expected. I love anything set in Victorian London and like steampunk, so I was pretty gone on that series. Love MI too, though I thought a few of the later books got draggy. I’m sure the conclusion will be awesome.
You didn’t ruin it for me. I read the first 2 and meant to finish the third over Christmas, but my heart wasn’t in the series. I’ll have to go back and try to finish. I think I just loved Clary and Simon and the modern gang too much for the characters in the prequel to compete. But I agree with you on anything set in Victorian London.
Your book, Beneath Manhattan Skies! ๐
Yay. How are the post-its coming along? ๐
I am reading the exact same book this weekend! I’m about 3/4 done and plan to finish it up Saturday. I won’t say a peep about what happens until you’re done! Thanks for turning me on to this series!
I’m less than 200 hundred pages in. Got to it late yesterday! Shannon, I’m so glad I have someone to talk to about these books. Glad you’re enjoying them.
I finished yesterday and I don’t know what to do with myself. Maybe I’ll try the prequel now. Can’t wait to hear how you like the finale!
Just at the Simon part and I’m bawling.
Right?? MT.
Good luck! I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of the series. I’ve seen so many people tweeting about this over the past week. Everyone is so excited about this series, I need to pick it up. ๐
Thanks, Becky. I had a minor moment of panic yesterday in town when I went to the Young Adult book section and could only see books 1 to 5. I thought book 6 had sold out, and I started to hyperventilate. Luckily the kindhearted sales person recognised the look from many other people coming in all week looking for book 6 and walked me over to the special shelf containing nothing but copies of City of Heavenly Fire. Ahh, the relief.
Thanks for the grins. I m currently reading Dark Mountain by C B Pratt.
Just looked up Dark Mountain on Amazon. Lovely fantasy book cover. Enjoy, Sherry.
Dang it! I’ve been dying to read this series, but life just keeps getting in the way. I really need to buckle down and get started, don’t I?
Hop to it, Missy!
