The summer here in Ireland has been fairly miserable. With grey skies and plenty of rain, July felt more like November. We finally got some sunshine this week so I made the most of my lunch breaks, lounging in the garden with a book and cold drink.
The song that’s gotten me up and dancing and feeling good this summer is “Shut Up and Dance ” by Walk the Moon. When I first heard it, I thought it was an 80’s tune I somehow had never heard before. Then I saw the video and fell in love with the tribute to that decade.
Have you heard this one and seen the video?
It’s just so happy and carefree, I adore the melody, lyrics and video. Makes me look forward to the next 80’s night I attend.
What songs have got you feeling summery this year?
***
This is one of those songs that I don’t think I’ve ever heard before, but as soon as the chorus kicked in, I’m sure I must have….if that makes sense! Dancing is one of my favorite things to do. I’m going to a wedding reception tonight, so I plan to indulge 🙂
Sorry your summer has been so miserable. Reading and music helps!
All Summer Long by Kid Rock is a summer song I love!
We could certainly use some of that Irish weather over here, but I love the heat, so never mind.
Ah, Shut up and Dance, I loved this song when I first heard it, and would always crank it up when it came on. Until my vacation 3 weeks ago, when every radio station over saturated the song by playing it all the time. I’m sure once the radio buzz dies down, I’ll get back to loving this song again. And yes, it has a very 80’s feel to it. Probably why I liked it so much at first.
Hmm, songs that’ve given me that Summer feel this year?
Tear in my Heart, by twenty one pilots
Can’t feel my Face, by The Weeknd
Girl Crush, by Little Big Town. Not sure why, not I just love this song.
Still loving, Uptown Funk, by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson
But my favourite song of this summer is an older song that I newly discovered, 1977, by Ana Tijoux. LOVE. THIS. SONG.
Hopefully an Indian Summer is coming your way so that you may enjoy more outdoor reading and cool drinks. That’s my two cents, cheers, Emma.
We have had a cool spell with plenty of rain here in Florida and that’s fine with me. I know the sun and heat will return, so until them, I love the song Cruise by Georgia Florida State Line. Upbeat, fun and who doesn’t love tooling around in your car with the radio blasting. 🙂
