I love this song and video. It’s got good lyrics, tells a story, and the music is haunting and hypnotic.
In short, this song gives me all the feels.
This is the kind of music that makes me want to go clubbing again and lose myself to the beat on the dancefloor, fuelled on by a few rum & Cokes.
It Ain’t Me is moody, yet summery and upbeat. And now it’s right up there with my summer favourites of recent years like “Firestone” by Kygo, “Waves” by Mr. Probz , and “Are You With Me” by Lost Frequencies. (All these videos will be posted at the end of this post.)
All these songs swept me up in a wave of nostalgia the first time I heard them, making me think of summers of earlier years, and even some summer nights that only happened in my imagination.
“Who’s gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
Who’s gonna rock you when the sun won’t let you sleep?
Who’s waking up to drive you home when you’re drunk and all alone?
Who’s gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
It ain’t me”
In the video we get a glimpse into the man’s subconscious, walking with him through his dreamlike state while his girlfriend sings of his alcohol abuse and the ending of their relationship. Halfway through she decides to stop sitting by his hospital bed in despair and starts to dance, sharing the music with him, drawing him back to the land of the living. The cinematography is gorgeous, from the blue “in between realm”, to the green smoke, and the fairy lights in the forest. The choreography is also exquisite.
This is my Summer anthem! 😀🍦🍹
Laura, I love that song. It was my anthem all through the summer of 2014.
I love ‘It Ain’t Me’ too……I also love this song, I discovered them for the first time this year. I think it’s more a Summer evening anthem, cool breeze in your hair as the sun’s going down, driving along (or not driving! ha! ;D) by the beach……………
And also I love this song for the Summer………….an oldie but a goodie!! 😀
I really like “My Silver Lining”, reminds me of that car advert, from last summer maybe it came out? And First Aid Kit are Swedish. What is with you and Scandinavians? 🙂
And I’ll listen to anything by The Kinks. Good choices, Laura.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a wonderful summer!!!!

Thanks for stopping by, Sherry. I’m looking forward to catching up with blogs this summer, including yours. Take care, Emma.
I still love Sigma, Nobody to Love and of course L’amour Toujours..
Nobody to Love makes me feel so summery. I have not listened to Gigi D’Agostino in many many years, but happy memories there. L’amour Tourjours and La Passion.
