Read this in one day this past weekend. Only put it down long enough to boil the kettle.

The creatures in the woods on the outskirts of the no longer so sleepy town of Chesterport are awake and want out. They’re just waiting for the opportunity to break free and go after the townsfolk. Flo, as if she didn’t have enough questions about her gift and who she is, now learns she’s distantly related to elves. Yes, you heard right. Now we have elves and other strange woodland creatures to deal with as well as angels, demons in teenage boys’ bodies, psychics and empaths. We know it’s only a matter of time before the beings in the forest are let loose, but how exactly will this happen, and what is in store for the town once it does?
Flo’s abusive father is back in her life, always ready with a hard fist or mean put down. Against her better judgement and her boyfriend, Frank’s advice, Flo stays in her now deceased Gran’s house with her Dad. She locks her bedroom door at night to keep herself safe, but it’s not enough to save her from a beating and psychological abuse. I was rather annoyed with Flo at some points in the story. Yes, her father blackmailed her to break up with Frank, but I wanted her to defy him, pack her things and never look back. I guess it’s difficult to break the habits of a lifetime.
The romance between Frank and Flo has cemented into a loving relationship. Like any teenage boy, Frank openly admits to spending 99% of his time thinking about having sex with Flo. She’s not ready, and Frank being the nice guy he is, doesn’t push. The few heated moments between them give us an idea of what’s to come when they do finally consummate their relationship. I think we’ll all be looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Flo and Frank in the next book.
The secondary characters add to the vibrancy of the story. We even get to spend a short time with the vampire Ethan, human, but not all the way human, Tegan (the heroine from Cosway’s other supernatural series, The Ultimate Power) and the spunky witch, Rita when Flo visits Tribane.
Okay, so what else can I say? I loved A Vision of Green. The next book in the series isn’t out until next summer, so I’ll have to re-read all of Cosway’s novels to keep me going until then. ***** If you’re curious to learn more about this author, read my interview with L.H Cosway from last week.
