Vampire Music Videos/Songs

I racked my brains trying to think of songs and music videos that reminded me of vampires. Off I went to YouTube where I knew I was pretty much guaranteed to find thousands of possibilities in the realm of fan-made videos. I’ve chosen  a few videos/songs below that bring these creatures of the night to mind.

The below video is for Blood Ties.  This Canadian series had a few great characters, but the terrible special effects ruined any chance of it being taken seriously. “I’m Sorry” is really vampirey. Thank you, Roxette for this deliciously moody song (I posted this song in my Tegan’s Magic review last week). Around the 1.03 mark, the vampire-esque sound comes through.

“Cry Little Sister” from The Lost Boys. Possibly my favourite vampire film ever.

“Self Fulfilling Prophecy” from the German vampire flick, We Are the Night/Wir Sind die Nacht. I reviewed this film last year. The song is pretty haunting.

“Lucky” – Bif Naked. Sultry & melancholy. I first heard it on Buffy. The video to this is wicked.

Eyes on Fire – Blue Foundation. I first noticed it when watching Twilight. It’s now one of my favourite songs. Here’s a Vampire Diaries fan video. The lyrics are cool.

Have a great weekend and if you can think of any songs or music videos that remind you of vampires, leave a link in the comments and I’ll check them out. x

I totally agree with ‘Cry Little Sister’ making me think of vampires. Have you heard the recent remake by Seasons After? When I heard it I said “oooo, the Lost Boys song”! 🙂 And ever since hearing ‘Eyes on Fire’ on TVD I’m obsessed with it. LOVE that song. It’s in the mix I listen to when I write. Great songs, Emma!

    • Emma says:

Hi, Jen. No, I haven’t heard the remake but I’m off now to check it out.
“Eyes on Fire” is such a cool song. The Twilight soundtrack is pretty epic actually.

  2. Ah, Lost Boys. One of my faves. I can’t believe you don’t have Bella Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus listed here. Here’s a link to one of many youtube videos. It’s of the shorter version from the movie ‘The Hunger’, but I recommend listening to the nine and a half minute version, too. Be still my beating heart! If you’ve never seen ‘The Hunger’ you have to check it out. David Bowie in all his vampy glory. It’s a bit gory and ever since I saw it back in the 80’s, I’ve been terrified of monkeys, but dang! It’s a great vampire movie. Also, anything by The Damned or Fields of the Nephilim makes me think of spooky vampirish stories. I need to download ‘Eyes on Fire’ and go watch Lost Boys again!

    • Emma says:

Tameri, I was actually thinking about posting the Bela Lugosi video, not sure why I didn’t!
I think I saw The Hunger years and years ago, but I can’t really remember it. I’ll have it watch it properly – love David Bowie!
      I’ll look up The Damned.

I really love Eyes on Fire it still remains one of my face songs from when I brought the Twilight soundtrack. 😛 And fantastic fan video *wink, wink*

  4. Oh yeah, I totally second the pick of “Cry Little Sister”, especially the cover version by Seasons After. Lost Boys was always one of my favorite vampire movies, and that song was iconic. The Seasons After version is on YouTube here:

Also, a song that’s about a vampire, but not from a movie, is “Vollmond” by In Extremo, a German folk metal band. It’s pretty cool!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the music video on YouTube – just a live version. If you can find the video somewhere, it’s worth a watch. But, here’s the live version:

    • Emma says:

Thanks, Brandon. I headed over to YouTube to look up Season After after Jen mentioned it. Cool version.
I’m listening to the German band as I type this. Thanks.

Cry Little Sister is a great one, Emma. I remember eagerly waiting for The Lost Boys on DVD and calling various stores to track it down when it first released on VHS, all those years ago.

I can’t really think of any vampire songs, but for some reason In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson popped into my head, maybe because it’s medieval/gothic in nature.

    • Emma says:

I still have it on VHS. 🙂
I’m not familiar with “In the Court” – definitely has a great title. Medieval and gothic? I’m in.

  6. Very melancholy and “vampirish” songs. Gives me shivers.

  7. Vampires! Got to love them and the music that evokes their stories.

  8. Love these songs! Especially Blue Foundation which always reminds me of Twilight, along with Muse songs. Here’s another one that I always associate with vampires. I never get enough of this one. It helps that they made a True Blood video out of it…someone did anyway.

    • Emma says:

Love the video they did to this. I hadn’t heard of this Kings of Leon song until now, it’s cool. I’m likin’ the moody feel to it – Okay (30 seconds later) I’m loving the moody feel. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

A great question Miss Meade! First of all there would have to be ‘Love Song for a Vampire’ by the great Annie Lennox from the Dracula soundtrack! 🙂 Then there would be ‘Temptation Waits’ by Garbage from Buffy soundtrack. I like ‘In the Shadows’ too by The Rasmus! 🙂

    • Emma says:

Listening to “Love Song for a Vampire” and hanging on for it to get past the 2.00 minute mark. 🙂
The Rasmus song brings me back to our school days. I adore the Buffy soundtrack.

  10. Cry Little Sister is STILL one of my faves!!

    • Emma says:

I was watching an episode of Psych today, and Corey Feldman was in it and they played “Cry Little Sister” in the background. 🙂

  11. Taylor Dean says:

Well . . . I’m pretty wimpy when it comes to supernatural, so don’t laugh, but . . . Adam Lambert’s American Idol performance of ‘Mad World’ (in the season finale) is what inspired me to write my ghost/vampire novel! (It’s paranormal romance, heavy on the ROMANCE–like I said, I’m a wimp when it comes to scary!)
Great post. Music is absolutely what inspires me! My book wouldn’t exist without this performance! This link is a poor quality video. I haven’t been able to find a good one. I downloaded it off iTunes so I could have a decent copy. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEQyz0acKNo

    • Emma says:

Hi Taylor. I’m checking out that video right no. “Mad World” is such an eerie song – I love it. I love paranormal romance – congrats on your novel.

  12. fuonlyknew says:

Cry little sister is my all time favorite and so is Lost Boys. I’m going to go watch it now. In the mood after all these awesome videos!

  13. Hmmmm, time for me to go watch ‘Lost Boys’ again. It’s been at least a year since I last saw it. ‘Cry Little Sister’ is an amazing song.
